Josey Jewell, LB

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Josey Jewell led the Denver Broncos with eight tackles in this game against the Redskins.

Jewell has 16 total tackles through the Broncos’ first three preseason games and has inspired a lot of confidence in the coaching staff that if anything were to happen to either Todd Davis or Brandon Marshall, Jewell would be able to step in and play well immediately.

Jewell is maddeningly consistent, always around the football and he plays pretty well no matter what is asked of him.

I noticed Jewell made some good plays in coverage in addition to racking up tackles, and he also played very well on special teams.

The Broncos picked Jewell in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but getting him is like having an extra second or third round pick. There was nothing keeping Jewell out of day two of the NFL Draft aside from lack of elite athleticism, which he’s able to overcome with crazy football instincts.

This guy is a star in the making.
