Denver Broncos: Top performers against the Washington Redskins
Phillip Lindsay, RB
The Broncos’ most impressive all-around running back so far this preseason has been undrafted rookie Phillip Lindsay’, whose roster spot is not in question at this point.
As we stated after last week’s game against the Chicago Bears, Lindsay should probably be considering which number he wants to switch to since the NFL won’t let him wear no. 2 in the regular season.
Maybe he’ll take 30 as an homage to Hall of Famer Terrell Davis, or maybe he will start a new legacy with a new number.
Time will tell.
But Lindsay has been the Broncos’ best all-around back this preseason when it comes to running between the tackles, catching the ball out of the backfield, picking up blitzes, and working on special teams.
Lindsay is so explosive, so tough, so physical even for his size that defenses just don’t have a chance to defend him before he’s exploded downfield for a big gain.
Through three preseason games, Lindsay has 13 carries for 70 yards (5.4 average) and four receptions for 58 yards (14.5 average) with a touchdown.
The Broncos are doing a great job of scheming to get Lindsay in space, but he’s also gaining chunks of yards after contact between the tackles.
