Denver Broncos roster predictions: 53-man roster coming into focus
Tight End (3, 16/53)
Jeff Heuerman, Jake Butt, Austin Traylor
Cut: Matt LaCosse, Brian Parker
IR/PUP: Troy Fumagalli
If Fumagalli is unable to practice before the start of the regular season, this will be his fate. Otherwise, I feel like he’s going to be stashed at the bottom of the roster.
Denver poached LaCosse from the Giants last year, and he made a big play in the team’s first preseason game, catching a touchdown from Chad Kelly.
Even with that play, the Broncos drafted Fumagalli based on what he could do, not necessarily throwing him as an option in a hat and punishing him for being injured, which he was at the time he was drafted initially.
The top three spots appear solidified at this point, and Denver could choose to roster just three for the time being and put Fumagalli on temporary IR and try and get LaCosse on the practice squad as an emergency call-up kind of guy.
This position lacks some clarity heading into the final two weeks of the preseason.
