The Denver Broncos have a lot to improve on after their week one preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Which players will be in focus against the Bears?

The Denver Broncos got off to a rough start in their first preseason game of the 2018 season against the Minnesota Vikings.

They have a chance to correct some things and get some positive momentum in their final home game until they host the Seattle Seahawks for week one of the regular season.

Which players will be in focus as we creep closer to the 90-man roster dwindling down to 53?

Let’s take a look at some of the players under the microscope against the Chicago Bears.

The quarterbacks

In general, the Broncos’ quarterback position is going to be under the microscope in this game.

The starters are expected to get up to a quarter-and-a-half of work in this game, which means we’ll be seeing plenty of Case Keenum.

After Keenum’s first two drives as a Bronco ended in three-and-outs and punts, there’s nowhere to go but up, right?

The Broncos have liked what they’ve seen from Keenum in training camp, and now need to see it in a game setting. Nobody in their right mind is pushing the panic button just yet, but moving the chains and putting together some scoring drives will be critical for the Broncos’ starting offense, led by Keenum.

Aside from Keenum, fans will once again be eager for backup quarterback Chad Kelly to enter the game.

After his promotion, it seems like the Broncos are approaching a critical juncture with Paxton Lynch, a former first-round pick who has regressed in each of his three seasons with the team.

Lynch’s regression is concerning, but Kelly has to maintain his hold on the backup job and Lynch has to do what he can against the Bears’ third-team defense to prove he is not completely inept.

The quarterbacks will be the most fascinating players to watch in this one.
