Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph shed some light on how long he expects the starters to play against the Chicago Bears…

The Denver Broncos face off against the Chicago Bears tonight. Head coach Vance Joseph said that the first-team offense will play quite a bit.

"“We’re going to play quite a bit. Not too much where we expose guys, but we’re going to play. We have to play. We played about six or seven snaps last week on offense and about 14 on defense. I’m looking at a quarter, maybe a quarter and a half with our ones. And our two’s will play until we see progress. We’ll play our three’s late.”"

After last week’s slow start on offense, it will be very important for the first-team offense to get some drives going. On both of quarterback Case Keenum’s drives against his old team, the Broncos went three-and-out. That didn’t provide the team with a clear example of what Keenum is capable of.

With head coach Vance Joseph confirming how long he expects the starters to play, we should see a major improvement in week two of the preseason.

The Broncos spent last week preparing for the Bears by conducting a joint practice with their preseason week two opponent. There were some good things that came out of it. In fact, it all could be looked at as a positive experience. There were some ups and downs, but even the negative things that occurred could be a good thing.

Practicing against another team can expose things that the team needs to focus on the most, and it’s crucial that the Broncos discover their flaws before the games count.

All players for the Broncos will need to do a better job Saturday. Keenum will need to get the ball to Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, and whoever else the team chooses to put in the game at the same time as the starting quarterback. They should see enough time on the field to create a nice rhythm.

The offensive line needs to be solid and keep Keenum off of his back. If the five guys up front can accomplish that, it will make his job a lot easier. That way he will be able to get the ball downfield to his receivers.

There will be some interesting matchups for the Broncos on offense. First of all, former Denver Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan returning to Denver. As much as I hate to admit it, I think Trevathan will cause some problems for the Broncos’ offensive line and Keenum.

While with the Broncos, Trevathan recorded 109 tackles in 2015, and 129 tackles in 2013. He has the potential to be a threat to the Broncos, or any team he faces. The Broncos will need to do a good job at making sure he is unable to be dominant.

Regardless of whether or not the Broncos will be able to contain Trevathan, it will be a good test.
