Bills quarterback AJ McCarron suffered a hairline fracture in his collarbone in Friday’s preseason contest. Could Elway chat about a Paxton Lynch trade?

The preseason continues to showcase huge injuries. The Buffalo Bills quarterback battle just took a huge turn on Friday night as A.J. McCarron suffered a hairline fracture to his collarbone. An injury like that will keep him out for a long period of time. As of now, the Bills only have Nathan Peterman and first round draft pick Josh Allen on the roster. Perhaps Paxton Lynch can come into the discussion.

Think about it. Nathan Peterman had a disastrous 2017 season. The Bills will likely name Josh Allen the Week One starter in Buffalo. But with the lack of quarterback depth on the team, John Elway would be a genius to pick up the phone and discuss trading Paxton Lynch.

Currently, Paxton Lynch is sitting third on the Broncos depth chart. Case Keenum is the starter. And as long as Chad Kelly performs well, he will be the backup.

With no chance in sight for him, other than performance, to have a shot, it would be a good decision for Paxton Lynch to start over in another city.

While Josh Allen would be the starter, it would help Buffalo to have another quarterback behind him in the case of injury. If I were in John Elway’s shoes, I would be okay with receiving a conditional draft pick in exchange for giving Paxton Lynch to the Bills.

Depending on how Buffalo decides to use Lynch will determine what the draft pick would be.

The Buffalo Bills will look at all the options available to them. But one move that can benefit both Denver and Buffalo is a trade involving Paxton Lynch. We will know more once the Bills get an idea of how long AJ McCarron will be sidelined. While Lynch will not be able to do a lot, it at least would stop some of the bleeding for the time being.
