According to Odds Shark, Denver Broncos linebacker Bradley Chubb is the favorite to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award…

When the Denver Broncos selected linebacker Bradley Chubb fifth overall, there were high expectations for the rookie. Now, there is even more emphasis on “high”.

According to OddsShark.com, Chubb’s a +140 to win the award, which is significantly greater than the runner-up, Bears linebacker Roquan Smith at +400.

The other rookies on the list, including their odds, are:

+400: Bears linebacker Roquan Smith.
+950: Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
+1400: Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Browns cornerback Denzel Ward, Buccaneers safety Derwin James.
+1500: Steelers linebacker Leighton Vander Esch.
+1800: Titans linebacker Harold Landry, Titans linebacker Rashaan Evans, Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander, Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport.
+2000: Green Bay Packers cornerback Josh Jackson.
+2800: Pittsburgh Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea, Washington Redskins nose tackle Da’Ron Payne, Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard, Carolina Panthers cornerback Donte Jackson.
+3500: Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Taven Bryan, Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback MJ Stewart, Indianapolis Colts defensive end Kemoko Turay.
+4000: Atlanta Falcons cornerback Isaiah Oliver, Los Angeles Raiders defensive tackle Maurice Hurst, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes.
+6600: Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Breeland Speaks.
+7000: Indianapolis Colts defensive end Tyquan Lewis.
+8500: Los Angeles Raiders defensive tackle PJ Hall.

If Chubb wins the award, he will join teammate and fellow linebacker Von Miller as Broncos who have beaten out other rookies for the award.

Miller won it after the spectacular year he had as a rookie back in 2011 when he recorded 64 tackles, 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 15 games.

Not only would he join Miller as rookie members of the Broncos to win the award, but if Chubb wins the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, it would add onto his other accolades, which include:

  • Bronko Nagurski Trophy (2017)
  • ACC Defensive Player of the Year (2017)
  • First-team All-ACC (2017)
  • AP First-team All-ACC (2017)
  • Ted Hendricks Award (2017)
  • Unanimous First-team All-American (2017)

Seeing as Chubb has been considered by many to be the best defensive player coming out of college into the 2018 NFL draft, it seems likely that he will be successful in his quest to win the award.

Next. Free agents who could help the Broncos. dark

Chubb is a dynamic, powerful linebacker who has continued to impress in training camp. To pair him with Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller looks to be unfair on paper. The duo could wreak havoc in 2018, as well as years to come.
