Will the first-team offense show life?
Analysts all over were sure quick to turn on Case Keenum and Denver’s first team offense.
On the surface, the first-teams offensive performance was lacking, but it is not the end of the world. There were only six plays with Keenum at the helm.
In those six plays w,e saw a good pass to Demaryius Thomas, a false start on the line, a handoff to Booker, and a pressured throw that was inaccurate.
The false start set Denver back and played a big role in not getting the first down on that drive.
Every report out of camp has been glowingly positive of Keenum and his leadership of the huddle. Give the guy some room to breathe. Six snaps are causing people to question Elway’s signing of the veteran quarterback and hit the panic button.
It’s the preseason for a reason, and Keenum is likely to see a few more snaps in game two against the Bears than he did versus the Vikings. Furthermore, we will get a much better preview of the Broncos first-team offense in their preseason week three game against the Redskins where typically the starters play a full half of football.
With that being said, a scoring drive in the first series against the Bears would go along way to easing some of the unjust concerns over the Broncos offensive potential in 2018.
