Isaac Yiadom, CB

Isaac Yiadom has been flashing plenty in his rookie training camp with the Denver Broncos, but going up against Stefon Diggs of the Minnesota Vikings is a different ballgame.

Yiadom is being prepared well by going up against Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, and DaeSean Hamilton every day, but playing corner in the NFL is a tough job and the margin for error is very small.

On the first play of the game for the Vikings’ offense versus the Broncos’ defense, Yiadom was lined up face-to-face with Diggs, and he was beaten on a quick route.

He was beaten again later in the drive on Diggs’ touchdown catch by giving up the inside.

It’s important not to be too harsh on Yiadom who deserves the chance to go through his rookie season struggles, but at the same time, the Broncos need him to be better as their other cornerbacks are going to do a lot of heavy lifting and Yiadom will be counted on to make some plays.

He needs to show he can do it with the top defense against opposing teams’ top receivers. If the Broncos want to match up man-to-man all the time Yiadom is going to see some really brutal matchups. He’s got to figure out a way to step up.
