Mike Glennon

Mike Glennon has quite the interesting career and is currently on his third stop in the league with the Arizona Cardinals. After getting drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccanneers in the third round out of NC State, Glennon had a promising start to his career.

Due to the ineffectiveness of former first-rounder Josh Freeman, Glennon was thrust into the starting role after just three games.

Glennon had a fantastic rookie season statistically speaking, but it never equated to much in terms of wins. He threw for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns and only nine interceptions in that first season. However, Tampa only won four of his thirteen starts.

After his first season, Glennon went on to make five more starts in Tampa, finishing his Buc’s career with 4,100 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. This production convinced Chicago to give a big money contract for Glennon to be the bridge starter to Mitch Trubisky last season.

That plan didn’t last long as Glennon struggled out of the gate. After just four games, Trubisky took the reins.

This offseason, Glennon signed a two-year deal with the Cardinals who proceeded to sign Sam Bradford and draft UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen in the first round. With Sam Bradford as the current unquestioned starter and Rosen the future of the franchise, and arguably the most pro-ready quarterback of this draft class, Glennon again finds himself as the odd man out.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for the Denver Broncos to bring in a capable, young backup who has starters experience to back up Keenum. Unfortunately, with both Bradford and Rosen’s injury history, the Cardinals may lean towards keeping all three similar to what the Vikings did last season.
