The Denver Broncos have an interesting battle brewing at the tight end position, and that position will be a major area of focus in the team’s first preseason game.

For Jake Butt, this matchup is particularly interesting.

First and foremost, it’s his first real football game since he played at Michigan and got hurt in the Orange Bowl against Florida State.

Second, he’s getting the chance to run with the first team with Jeff Heuerman out due to injury.

Butt is also going to be going up against an athletic group of safeties and linebacker from Minnesota, including some guys he knows very well from his days at Michigan like Ben Gedeon.

Butt has shown very well in training camp so far, and the Broncos have been raving about him since OTAs. This will be his chance to prove even in the short time that Case Keenum is in the lineup on Saturday night that he can be a major weapon for the offense in 2018.
