Running Backs

Devontae Booker, Royce Freeman, De’Angelo Henderson, Phillip Lindsay, David Williams—arguably the most interesting position to pay attention to this season for the Broncos, the team’s backfield consists of three rookies, which is insane.

Booker is installed as the current starter, with Freeman right on his tail. Freeman has a real shot at unseating Booker and I expect that to happen sometime during the 2018 season.

De’Angelo Henderson, a rookie last year, hopefully gets more playing time this season than he did in 2017.

Those three runners are in line to make the team.

The real question is, out of the last two, who takes the spot?

The Broncos really like Lindsay. However, Williams is a guy they spent a draft pick on.

In the end, however, it doesn’t matter how you got on the team. Whoever performs better out of the two will make the team. The other guy will be on the practice squad and compete next season for a roster spot.

At the end of the season, who will lead the team in yards? Well, it’s likely a tossup between Booker and Freeman.

Can Freeman do enough to surpass Booker on the depth chart? If so, will he do it soon enough to eclipse 1,000 yards?

That would be fun.

At the end of the day, all that matters is wins, and the Broncos will go with the hot hand at the running back position.
