Offense: Kareem Hunt, RB

After starting off the first five games in 2017 looking like a true MVP candidate, Kareem Hunt hit the rookie wall and didn’t eclipse 100 yards in a game (rushing) for seven straight weeks, and had a nine-game stretch without scoring a touchdown.

Despite all of that, Hunt managed to rack up 1,782 yards from scrimmage in his rookie season with eight rushing touchdowns and three receiving scores.

He proved himself to be a dynamic threat at the running back position, and with Alex Smith departed, Hunt is now the favorite in Kansas City to be the team’s offensive MVP.

Defense: Eric Berry, S

The Chiefs are the only team in the division whose MVP candidates are not a quarterback and defensive front seven player.

Eric Berry is a comeback player candidate as well after missing all but one game last season.

Berry is the heart and soul of the Chiefs. He’s also one of the best all-around safeties in the game when healthy and capable of terrorizing the opposing offense.

If Berry is healthy, he’s a candidate for Pro Bowl, All-Pro, or MVP honors.
