How does Sutton fair when it’s game time?

The Denver Broncos were ecstatic when Sutton fell to them with the 40th pick of the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

They pounced quickly after having a first-round grade on the wide receiver out of SMU. He has not disappointed since joining the Broncos, consistently making highlight-reel catches over Denver’s vaunted No Fly Zone.

Despite how raw scouts thought he would be coming into the NFL, his size and athleticism was tantalizing. Expectations were that it would take a little bit of time for Sutton to adjust to the speed and necessities of the NFL game. This reminded me a lot of another former second-round draft pick of the Broncos, Cody Latimer.

So far, I have been wrong, and I couldn’t be happier. Sutton has been a quick study of the game and is making jaw-dropping catches so consistently that Sutton news is more focused on when he doesn’t make a jaw-dropping catch. It’s been that rare so far.

Predominantly Orange Editor Sayre Bedinger has also been quite the fan of Sutton thus far.

What will be interesting is how Sutton plays against Minnesota’s strong secondary and this year’s first-round pick Mike Hughes. This will be a fantastic first test for the young receiver.
