The Broncos running back battle continues

Heading into the 2018 season, it was assumed by most that Devontae Booker would be the starter at running back after CJ Anderson was let go this offseason.

John Elway, however, went and added some competition at the running back position.

Royce Freeman comes to the team as a highly touted third-round draft pick out of Oregon and local kid Philip Lindsay somehow did not get drafted but was signed as a priority free agent.

Both have been making waves as has last year’s sixth-round draft pick De’Angelo Henderson. As far as anyone can tell it is a wide-open competition, but the two newcomers are creating most of the buzz.

Predominantly Orange’s Cameron Parker wrote in his training camp observations:

"Lindsay was electrifying at the UC Health Training Center garnering “oohs” and “ahhs” throughout the day."

Meanwhile, Freeman also has quite a few fans of his training camp play so far.

Throughout camp, all backs have been getting their share of snaps, but the first game against the Vikings will tell a lot.

Who starts the game, who receives the majority of the carries, and how well they perform can go a long way in showing fans who has the edge in the competition for the Denver Broncos.
