Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is making the rounds at NFL training camps and visited with Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders…

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was in attendance for the team’s first day of training camp and has made an appearance every year since he retired in 2016.

He’s also routinely made appearances at training camps across the NFL outside of Denver, but for the first time ever (to our knowledge), he’s made a trip out to Oakland Raiders training camp.

So far, there has been no confirmation of the rumor that the Raiders kindly put up a scoreboard that read ‘Denver 47, Oakland 14’ as a warm way of welcoming the future Hall of Famer.

There was this fun interaction between Manning, Derek Carr, and Marshawn Lynch, however…

After news started spreading that Manning (and fellow class of 1998 draft choice Charles Woodson) was offering his wisdom to the Raiders, Mike Klis of 9News in Denver pointed out that Jon Gruden was one of Manning’s ‘most trusted consultants’ in his quest for a new team.

Klis says in this tweet that Gruden didn’t necessarily lead Manning to Denver, but didn’t try and convince him not to go there, either.

If that’s the case, nobody in Broncos Country should mind seeing Manning spend a day on the field with the bitter rivals from the Bay Area. Gruden may have done Denver the ultimate favor by laying out the options and perhaps even helping convince Manning that the Broncos were the best options.

Plus, this type of thing is a great opportunity for a young player like Derek Carr. Manning shares his football wisdom with many players around the league, not limited to Denver’s roster. The Broncos are fortunate that Manning is now an alumnus of the orange and blue, but he’s certainly not going to say no to the opportunity to help out a young player like Carr.

Every memory of Manning on the field against the Raiders in a Broncos uniform is a pleasant one. He didn’t lose a single game (7-0) against the Raiders in his time as a member of the team.
