Royce Freeman

At day five of training camp, the Broncos seemed to emphasize getting Freeman reps with the top offense.

He did not disappoint.

Freeman made some really nice cuts including a run where he bounced to the outside and blew by the defense for a touchdown.

Even though players are in pads and it’s a ‘full contact’ practice, the hitting is not as intense as it would be in a real game. With that said, Freeman looks like a bulldozer when he gets a full head of steam and it’s clear he’s going to be very hard to take down.

The Broncos are doing a good job of incorporating their variety of running backs into the offense, but Freeman has the look of a player who is going to make a significant impact on the early downs and he will have to earn his role as a third down back.

Luckily, the Broncos have a number of backs who really excel in that third down role, so they won’t always have to have Freeman out there anyway.
