Tim Patrick

The Broncos added the big-bodied Tim Patrick to their practice squad last season, and head coach Vance Joseph noted that the team has been high on him for about a year.

Because of the Broncos’ depth at the wide receiver position, Patrick has sort of flown under the radar but he was working with the team’s first unit offensively at OTAs and continued to do so in the early goings of training camp.

At Tuesday’s fully-padded practice, Patrick was particularly impressive.

His big body certainly stands out, especially going one-on-one against defensive backs, but I came away impressed with his body control at that size rather than just him physically dominating defensive backs.

He had one route in particular in one-on-ones (which is a bit of an unfair advantage for receivers, admittedly) where he stopped on a dime and created about 10 yards of easy separation to make a catch when it looked like he was going to try to run a go-route and instead ran a hitch.

Patrick also had a nice play for a touchdown from Case Keenum outlined in a previous slide.
