There has been some good news regarding some Broncos players and injuries. Troy Fumagalli will participate in training camp on a limited basis.

One more sleep until the Denver Broncos begin training camp. Football season is just around the corner. One player that is looking to get onto the practice field is Denver’s fifth round draft pick Troy Fumagalli. Injury has kept him off the field during OTA’s and mini camp.

However, he is getting very close to being able to participate in full. He missed the offseason program while dealing with a sports hernia. However, Troy Fumagalli will not be placed on the physically unable to perform list.

That is good news for the rookie. With as big as the tight end position will be for the Denver Broncos in 2018, it will be key for the team to have a solid depth chart at the position. Hopefully, Fumagalli will get back on the field sooner rather than later.

The reason? Tight end is going to be a battle in Denver Broncos training camp this season. You have Jake Butt, Jeff Heuerman, Austin Traylor, and others. Tight end is one of the only starting jobs going into the 2018 season that has yet to be decided. The belief is that Jake Butt and Jeff Heuerman will be locking horns for the starting job.

Troy Fumagalli will likely find a way on the roster. However, he would likely begin the year as the third tight end. That might change if Traylor performs well this summer.

If Fumagalli can get himself on the field quickly, there is no doubt he can enter the tight end conversation. He certainly has the skill set. But it all comes down to who wants it more.

The Broncos kick off training camp on Saturday morning. Hopefully, Troy Fumagalli will be ready sooner rather than later.
