Needs To Rebound: Isaiah McKenzie, WR/PR

McKenzie had a rough rookie season as a punt returner in 2017. He made many Broncos fans’ heads turn, and not in a good way.

He fumbled the ball so many times, it was surprising that the coaches put him back on special teams time after time.

It will be interesting to see what the Broncos do at that position. Will they try again and have McKenzie be the return man again? If they do, he will need to get his head straight and mind focused on catching the football first instead of running with it before he secures it.

The Broncos have multiple players that could fill his spot at the returner position, such as a couple of their rookie running backs, maybe a cornerback, maybe even a wide receiver.

Jordan Taylor would have been a candidate to take that spot from McKenzie in 2018. Now, Taylor’s roster spot is in question due to his health. He is recovering from surgeries on both of his hips. That spells bad news for him but could help McKenzie in the end.

All I know is, if McKenzie cannot secure the football, the Broncos better realize that he just isn’t the guy for the job.
