Denver Broncos: Rising star, breakout player, rebound player, and more
Most Underrated: Case Keenum, QB
In order to qualify for ‘underrated’, we must step out of the realm of Bronco fandom.
Case Keenum is not necessarily being underrated by Broncos fans, the majority of which are excited to see what the Minneapolis Miracle-maker can do in the Mile High City.
It feels, however, like most pundits outside of Denver are sleeping on Keenum a bit.
To be honest, there are good reasons for most to sleep on him.
Up until last season, Keenum’s career numbers were pedestrian, but every other quarterback who suffered under Jeff Fisher was given a pass after they played well last year, including a potential league MVP candidate in Jared Goff and Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.
Both of those players are being considered vastly improved and assets to their (or in the case of Foles) possibly other teams, but Keenum’s improvement is being met with skepticism.
Based on what?
If Goff and Foles are getting praised for their work without Jeff Fisher’s apparent limitations, Keenum should be getting the same type of praise.
I think from an outsider’s perspective, Keenum is the most underrated player on the Broncos and could potentially be the reason why this team returns to AFC prominence.
