The Denver Broncos are going to be young at the running back position. Our next player that we will profile is Phillip Lindsay, who could surprise.

Running back is a very important position in the NFL today. It helps keep the pressure off the quarterback. Unfortunately, they were somewhat unsuccessful last year despite C.J. Anderson’s 1,000 yard season. Perhaps the undrafted free agent in Phillip Lindsay can help.

Denver has been notoriously known for having an undrafted free agent end up on the final roster. There are some prime candidates this season. Phillip Lindsay is one of them. He could find his biggest contributions on special teams returning  kickoffs.

Lindsay is also known for his running. During his senior year, he ran for over 1,400 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. We saw in college that he is very versatile, as he can catch out of the backfield. That is something that the Broncos have missed in recent years.

With the competition at running back, does Lindsay have a shot at making the final roster? I believe that he does. With his versatility on offense and special teams, he could very well separate himself from the pack.

Based on the competition at the position, he may not get his shot right away. I believe his early contributions will come at special teams. Which could be a benefit to the Denver Broncos granted their production at that unit last season.

The only way I do not see him making the final roster is if he under performs or another running back surprises during preseason. But with how productive he can be and his skill set, it would not surprise me if Denver found a way to keep Phillip Lindsay around.

Training camp is just a few short days away. There will be a lot of names to keep an eye on. Don’t sleep on Lindsay.
