Denver Broncos training camp battle 2018: Punt returner
The Rest
Jordan Taylor
The Broncos found some stability with Jordan Taylor returning punts, and he finished with a respectable average of 9.4 yards per return on 11 returns, and most importantly, he did not drop the ball six times.
Taylor, however, is coming off of offseason hip surgery and his health to start the season is unknown at this point.
Phillip Lindsay
The rookie undrafted free agent is willing to make contributions anywhere he can to make the Broncos’ final roster. He hasn’t returned kicks on a full-time basis since he was a freshman at Colorado, where he just returned kicks. He never returned punts in his college career.
DaeSean Hamilton
The Broncos may experiment some with DaeSean Hamilton as a punt returner, as he has some of the best hands on the team. Hamilton never returned punts in college, but with his strong hands and ability to make plays in space, he may be a natural.
Next: The Broncos improved greatly for 2018
Carlos Henderson
The 2017 third-round pick is going to need to make an impact on special teams and while he was a prolific kick returner at Louisiana Tech, he never returned a punt. Still, his skills in that regard make him a candidate here.
Brendan Langley
Langley is a former wide receiver turned cornerback who became a very good punt returner at Lamar University. The Broncos hoped he could make an impact in this regard early on, but he only returned one punt in 2017. He did lead the Broncos with 30.5 yards per kick return and despite a small sample size, he could be the best candidate for the job.
