Denver Broncos training camp storylines: Defense
Working With DeMarcus Ware
The Broncos went out this offseason and made some interesting coaching adjustments. They started adding ‘specialty’ coaches for specific position groups, like giving Marcus Robertson charge over the safeties and bringing in Greg Williams to coach up the cornerbacks.
They wanted to do something similar with their pass rushers, so they hired DeMarcus Ware as a part-time pass rush coach.
Ware has worked with a number of Broncos players as a teammate and mentor, but his new role will include teaching his legendary pass rush technique to more than just the edge players.
Ware will get the chance to work with all pass rushers and this is something that could greatly enhance the Broncos’ chances of returning to the elusive 50-sack number, which they achieved in 2012 and 2015, not coincidentally their two best seasons defensively in the John Elway era.
Having the opportunity to work with Ware even just one time would be special, but that the Broncos are having Ware work with their pass rushers frequently throughout the season is going to make a major difference.
