The Denver Broncos’ defense is good, but can they return to being elite in every phase? We take a look at the top storylines in training camp 2018…

The Denver Broncos defense was great in 2015.

Over the past two seasons, they have been good, but how can they get back to being great?

In 2017, the Broncos ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed, but just 22nd in scoring defense. Much of that can be attributed to a horrible offense, but the Broncos’ defense wasn’t forcing as many turnovers as it has in the past.

They ranked 26th in the NFL with just 17 forced turnovers and dropped from 52 sacks in the Super Bowl season of 2015 to just 33 in 2017.

That’s despite taking away the opponents’ run game, yielding a league-low 3.3 yards per carry.

The Broncos have to find ways to get more pressure on the opposing quarterback and create more turnovers. In year two under Joe Woods as the team’s defensive coordinator, there will be plenty to watch for at Training Camp in 2018.

Brandon Keckler and I discussed some of these storylines in our latest podcast:

Here are a few more things we’ll be looking forward to watching on the defensive side of the ball at Denver Broncos Training Camp…
