Forbes Magazine has provided a list of the top-paid celebrities of 2018. Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller made the list…

Von Miller is the 97th-highest paid celebrity on a list recently released by Forbes, which includes eight NFL players. Miller’s annual salary is $35.1 million, just behind Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill at $35.2 million.

Miller signed a monster contract with the Broncos in July of 2016. The duration of the contract was for six years/$114.1 million, with $42 million guaranteed to Miller at the time of signing.

The contract made Miller the highest paid defensive player in the history of the National Football League.

The other NFL players on this list are: San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo ($36.2 million) at no. 90, New York Jets cornerback Trumaine Johnson ($37 million) tied with singer Kenny Chesney at no. 87, Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith, tied with Rafael Nadal at no. 72 ($41.4 million), Los Angeles Raiders quarterback Derek Carr at no. 70 ($42.1 million), New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees at no. 67 ($42.9 million), Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford at no. 36 ($59.5 million), and finally, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan at no. 29 ($67.3 million).

In seven seasons with the Denver Broncos, Miller has accumulated 83.5 sacks (11.9 sacks per year), and has recorded double-digit sacks in every season in the league except one (2013). He was also named the MVP of Super Bowl 50, when the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, 24-10.

Miller has been the Broncos’ best defensive player for a while and that doesn’t look to change. The team also has a few other players on the defensive side of the ball that could see a pay raise sometime during their time as a Bronco.

A couple names to consider are cornerbacks Chris Harris Jr. and Bradley Roby. It remains to be seen whether the Broncos will sign these players to big contracts, but those questions will be answered later down the road.

For now, Miller sits atop the league in terms of highest paid defenders.
