Prediction: Devontae Booker

The running back battle in training camp should be an interesting one.

With C.J. Anderson now gone, the race to become the starting running back is wide open.

Devontae Booker should start the season as the starter based on being the most experienced guy on the roster. But I would not sleep on the job because the rest of the running back crop can take the job from him in a heartbeat.

As for who is named the backup, I will go with Royce Freeman. It will be close between him and De’Angelo Henderson, but it can be said that Freeman might have better upside. That leaves Henderson as the third running back on the depth chart.

I believe Andy Janovich will do enough to become the fullback once again. I would only ask that the coaching staff utilizes him more. If they have him on the 53-man roster and don’t even have him in on short yardage or goal line situations, then we need to have a serious conversation.

My thought is that Denver will go in with a fourth running back. And I have my eyes on Phillip Lindsay beating out the seventh-round draft pick David Williams. His speed, power, and potential on special teams can be very helpful to the Broncos roster. Therefore, David Williams would be a great addition to the practice squad.
