Shaquil Barrett, age 25

Along with the addition of DeMarcus Ware in 2014, the Broncos added Shaquil Barrett as an undrafted free agent.

Though Barrett and Ware have had varying levels of impact through the years, Barrett has proven himself to be a very effective edge defender.

While Ware brought pass rush prowess, Barrett brings an all-around game with his clear strength being as a run defender.

Barrett has been the most consistent edge player for the Broncos since 2015 in terms of health and level of play and is still just 25 years old.

He’s strong setting the edge in the running game, utilizing great lower body power to neutralize bigger offensive linemen and a quick first step to create opportunities for tackles for loss.

There haven’t been any rumors of the Broncos trying to extend Barrett’s contract (he was a restricted free agent in 2018), but perhaps they will do so before the start of the 2018 season.

Barrett has not yet proven himself as a dynamic pass rush threat in terms of sack numbers, but he’s primed for a breakout season soon and the Broncos would love to see him reach that elusive 10-sack mark in 2018.
