Draft info: 242nd overall pick (7th round) in 2014

The Denver Broncos had a pretty successful 2014 NFL Draft class overall, starting things off with Bradley Roby and finding gems later on in Matt Paradis (more on him later) and Corey Nelson.

Nelson was the final pick of the class, somewhat of an afterthought at the linebacker position out of Oklahoma.

Nelson struggled with injury his final year at Oklahoma and his production/draft stock took a hit as a result.

Still, he had proven in his career there that he was capable of playing a versatile role for a defense with the ability to excel in coverage, blitz, and play some on special teams.

He did just that for the Denver Broncos.

Nelson has played in 53 career games, more than any other player in the Broncos’ 2014 draft class (including Matt Paradis to this point) aside from Bradley Roby.

He ended up starting six games for the Broncos in 2016 and had a career-high 61 total tackles.

He missed all but five games in the 2017 seasons but had shown enough in his NFL career to earn a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles early in 2018 free agency.
