3. Mark Sanchez, 2016

The 2016 offseason makes another appearance on this list with John Elway’s acquisition of quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The Broncos ultimately didn’t even carry Sanchez into the regular season but spent the entire offseason grooming him to be their starter and pitching fans that he had a chance to be a key member of a team that had just won the Super Bowl.

The team didn’t even end up giving up a draft pick for Sanchez as it was conditional upon his making the final 53-man roster, which he didn’t.

The Broncos would attempt to trade Sanchez before the start of the season, and something nearly formulated with the Dallas Cowboys before fizzling out.

Sanchez was released and ended up signing with Dallas anyway.

The Broncos’ acquisition of Sanchez was a colossal waste of everyone’s time.
