5. Russell Okung, 2016

Contract: One year, $8 million

Initially, the idea of putting Russell Okung on this list didn’t seem very fair.

After digging up some numbers, it was apparent he deserved a spot.

After signing what essentially amounted to a one-year deal with the Broncos, Okung was second in the NFL with a whopping 50 quarterback hurries allowed from his left tackle position.

In addition to allowing 50 hurries, Okung committed 11 penalties, the 11th most in the NFL that season.

The Broncos took a pretty risk-free approach with Okung in free agency, signing him to a very interesting contract that included a four-year team option after year one.

Still, the team expected more for a player that ended up getting paid $500,000 per game. Okung didn’t shut down the left side of the line in pass protection as the team had hoped, but he was solid as a run blocker.
