The Denver Broncos have been among the league’s best when hitting on free agents and trades, but who are some of John Elway’s worst pickups?

Since John Elway took over as the lead decision maker for the Denver Broncos, the team has been very successful.

Though Elway has been imperfect in the NFL Draft, the Broncos have been the league’s best team when it comes to free agent signings.

As a matter of fact, this list was quite difficult to put together, but putting together a list of Elway’s free agent triumphs in any sort of order will be even more difficult.

The Broncos have mostly made very good investments since Elway took over the team in 2011 and have found some of the team’s best players through free agency and trades.

Though there have very few miscalculations in that regard, Elway — like all general managers — has had some free agency (or trade) blunders.

Here are the top five worst moves he has made, and quite possibly the only five that are really even worthy of making up a list…
