There are players that NFL teams paint as a villain to the franchise. NFL Mocks Erik Lambert believes Philip Rivers is the Broncos ultimate villain.

It is no secret that NFL fans who represent their team have that one player, or even multiple, that you just cannot stand. Tom Brady, Justin Houston, almost any Raiders player. There is a good chance that Broncos Country will not like any one of those players. Philip Rivers, however, has an interesting history with the Denver Broncos.

The current quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers, Philip Rivers has had quite a career. The only thing that has eluded him during his career is a Super Bowl title.

He was close in the 2007 season, going all the way to the AFC Championship Game. But they ran into the New England Patriots, who were undefeated at the time.

According to Erik Lambert at NFL Mocks, he has listed Philip Rivers as the Denver Broncos’ greatest villain in history.

If you went back to when Rivers had so much success towards the end of the 2000s, I would have to agree with it. During the Chargers dominance in the AFC West, the Denver Broncos could not figure out the Chargers offense.

Lambert describes Philip Rivers as arrogant during the team’s dominance, jawing with Broncos players. One of his most famous moments was his arrogance on a Christmas Eve night in 2007 as he trash talked Jay Cutler on the sideline.

I remember growing up as a Broncos fan how much I despised Philip Rivers. To call him a villain would be a bit of a stretch. But I also understand why he is the villain for the Broncos. While Denver struggled in the late 2000s, seeing Rivers win division title after division title was getting old to watch.

The Los Angeles Chargers are on the rise. Rivers might not have a lot of time left. Hopefully, he can remain quiet for Broncos Country’s sake.
