Donald Stephenson’s career has come to an end. The former Denver Broncos offensive tackle announced his retirement on Friday.

Donald Stephenson’s time with the Denver Broncos might not have been memorable for plenty of reasons. Inconsistent play haunted him for his two years in the Mile High City. The Broncos decided to allow him to become a free agent this offseason.

Stephenson would sign with the Cleveland Browns. However, he was hit with a two game suspension during the offseason. That might have been the end of the road for the offensive tackle. After missing OTA’s and minicamp, Stephenson opted to retire from the sport.

Announced today, Donald Stephenson is hanging up his cleats at the age of 29 years old. The Cleveland Browns would later place him on the reserved/retired list.

Donald Stephenson’s time with the Cleveland Browns was very brief. The decision to retire did not come as a surprise for me. Watching him for the last couple years, it seemed like nothing was working out for him. Stephenson lost the starting job to Menelik Watson in his final season in Denver.

Allen Barbe bumped him from the backup role in the 2017 season. Being placed that far down the depth chart, it was a matter of time until he was no longer a Bronco. The suspension and no show at offseason workouts was the writing on the wall.

The Denver Broncos signed him in 2016 hoping that he could help an offensive line that struggled. He played at left and right tackle before losing the job due to his performances on the field. Injuries during his time in Denver did not help his cause either.

We wish Donald Stephenson the best in life after football. At the age of 29, we wish him the best and hope for great things in his still young life.
