Drafting Bradley Chubb

In the NFL Draft, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than to have the perfect plan.

The Broncos had done their pre-draft mock draft sessions and not one of those scenarios involved the team being able to draft North Carolina State star Bradley Chubb, who was expected to go potentially as high as second overall to the New York Giants and no lower than fourth overall to the Cleveland Browns.

Chubb was an absolute monster in college for NC State. On a defensive line that had literally every starter drafted to the NFL this year, Chubb stood out as the most dominant playmaker.

He showed off incredible athleticism for his size at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine and solidified his status as a top-five pick.

Still, no one expected him to fall past the fourth pick.

When the Browns took cornerback Denzel Ward at number four overall, the Broncos wasted no time turning in the card for Chubb.

Chubb could prove to be one of the most fortuitous draft picks in Broncos history.

He will pair with Von Miller to give the Broncos one of the most fearsome edge duos in the entire league.
