Saying goodbye to C.J. Anderson

C.J. Anderson endeared himself to the Denver Broncos fan base in his rookie preseason campaign when he found ways to run over and around defenders on his way to the 53-man roster on one of the best teams in Broncos history.

Anderson wore the number 22 in Denver to represent the number of running backs that were picked in the 2013 NFL Draft.

His attitude and competitiveness helped earn him significant carries in 2014 when the Broncos suffered a number of injuries at the running back position.

Anderson was so good in 2014, he ended up making the Pro Bowl.

In 2015, he was instrumental in the Broncos’ Super Bowl run and had a victory-sealing touchdown in the victory over the Panthers.

Anderson was the Broncos’ featured back when healthy in 2016 and 2017 and eclipsed 1,000 yards for the first time in his NFL career in 2017.

The Broncos had been through a lot with Anderson, who had given the team some phenomenal production and hard work.

After attempting to trade him this offseason to change directions at the running back position, the Broncos ultimately let Anderson go and he signed on with the Carolina Panthers to pair up with Christian McCaffrey.

The timing seemed right for both parties to move on here, but Anderson’s contributions to the Broncos won’t soon be forgotten.
