Breaking down and ranking the running back position amongst the teams in the AFC West. Where do Denver Broncos backs rank?

The AFC West features a division full of talented athletes at almost every major position. The Denver Broncos have some tough competition.

Our focus today is on the running back position in the AFC West and where the division’s running backs rank.

The rankings are based on 2017’s season heading into the 2018 season. Also featured is who I believe the Wildcard will be at the RB position in the AFC West.

1. Melvin Gordon- Los Angeles Chargers

Melvin Gordon had a breakout season in 2017 which has placed him as the top back in the division heading into 2018.

Gordon had his first career 1,000-yard season by rushing for 1105 yards on 284 carries. He played in every game for the Chargers last season.

Gordon scored a total of 12 touchdowns in 2017 with eight rushing and four receiving. He was a threat to opposing defenses out of the backfield and in the trenches.

He was a pivotal factor in the Chargers rise from an 0-4 start to a winning nine of their final 12 games.

The Chargers missed out on the playoffs, but Gordon and the rest of the team appear to be confident and hungry heading into the 2018 season.
