Defensive Line

The Broncos’ defensive line recorded twelve of the team’s 33  sacks in 2017. Adam Gotsis had two; Domata Peko had one, Shelby Harris recorded 5.5; Derek Wolfe finished the year with two. Zach Kerr had half a sack, DeMarcus Walker had one.

Those numbers are pretty solid but there is always room for improvement. The Broncos finished fifth overall in terms of rushing yards allowed in 2017. That is really good.

The defensive line should remain intact for the 2018 season, but with one switch: Walker will be moved to the defensive line and no longer in a standing-up position at linebacker. The Broncos made a mistake when they put Walker off the line at outside linebacker in 2017.

The additions at other positions on defense should help the defensive line’s production in 2018.

Von Miller will be back at linebacker, and teams are likely to double-team him often. That will allow guys on the line to get to the quarterback, or running back, faster and more frequently.
