4. Trevor Williams

This player being so high on the cornerback ranking list may come as a surprise to some non-Chargers fans, but Trevor Williams is a name NFL fans may start hearing more often.

After a great season in 2017, the former undrafted free-agent is starting to gain respect around the league for his skills in coverage.

Williams uses his above average size and athleticism to stay with receivers and make plays on the ball. One of the most telling stats about his ability to cover is that Williams allowed the lowest passer rating out of any corner on throws that occurred after 2.6 seconds.

Without question, it helps that he is able to play behind one of the best pass rush groups in football and that normally doesn’t have to play against the opposing team’s top receiving threat (Casey Hayward usually takes care of that).

That being said, you have to give credit where credit is due. Trevor Williams has played great football over the last year and a half, and the league is starting to notice. PFF ranked Williams as the 10th best overall corner in the NFL.

With only one year as a full-time starter under his belt, Trevor Williams looks as though he could be one of the next dominant corners in the AFC West.
