Running Back: DeMarco Murray vs. Broncos RBs

This comparison is really a comparison of what the Broncos let go in C.J. Anderson more than what they currently have on the roster.

Anderson just turned 27 this year while Murray is 30. The Broncos didn’t necessarily let go of Anderson due to old age, but why would they have let go of a reasonably priced back coming off of a 1,000-yard season just to replace him with a player like Murray, who is coming off of a down year statistically and has passed the age 30 milestone?

Now, don’t get me wrong — there are ways Murray could help the Broncos that would be different than what Anderson did. He would provide arguably the best pass catching back the Broncos could get at whatever price he ends up signing for.

With that said, the decision to release Anderson and go with a young stable of backs would make signing Murray something the Broncos would only probably do if one of their top three guys got hurt.

Upgrade? No.
