Ron Leary, LG
The Broncos signed Leary to a big-money free agent deal in the 2017 offseason, and it proved to be a very wise move.
Leary was one of the best players on a great Dallas Cowboys defense, and he proved he was not just a product of the system, the coaching, or the situation when he excelled in year one with the Broncos playing ‘out of position’.
Leary was moved to the right guard position in 2017 when it became apparent Max Garcia could not play on that side.
The Broncos opted to keep Garcia at left guard where he was more of a natural, and put Leary on the right side.
That decision was a mistake for two reasons.
First of all, Garcia was not good enough to warrant switching Leary’s position.
Second, Leary would have been the perfect player to have at left guard helping rookie left tackle Garett Bolles.
It was a mistake the Broncos undoubtedly will have fixed for 2018, as Leary will move back to left guard.
This is a move that could have a substantial impact on the Broncos’ line, putting three of their best players in a row from left to right.
