John Elway’s First Comeback against the Colts

They say you never forget your first comeback. The first one of John Elway’s career was quite a defining one. Down 19-0 to the Baltimore Colts, Elway led his team to victory.

During the fourth quarter, Elway threw three touchdown passes to help lead the Broncos in outscoring the Colts 21-0 in the fourth quarter.

What made this performance spectacular was that Elway was just a rookie. He had a performance that was worth noting. He completed 23 of his 44 passes for 345 yards and recorded his three touchdowns. The Colts would drive down the field, but miss a long field goal as time expired to seal the comeback.

It proved to be a big win as it would help lead the Denver Broncos to the playoffs. Going to the playoffs in your rookie year is quite the feat.
