45. . S. (1969-81). Billy Thompson. 16. player

Billy Thompson held numerous career accolades as Bronco.

Drafted in the 1969 AFL Draft, Thompson contributed to the Broncos’ lengthy defensive history of playmakers.

Thompson played his entire career as a Bronco from 1969-1981. A member of the Broncos Ring of Fame, Thompson also was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and a two First-Team Team All-Pro selection.

In his career as a Bronco, he snagged 40 interceptions and holds the Broncos team record for career interception return yards at 784.

In Thompson’s rookie season, he led the NFL in kickoff and punt returns which made him the only player in NFL history to lead in those categories.

Today, Thompson is a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and is a pivotal member of the Broncos organization as an Alumni Coordinator.
