The quarterback position for the Denver Broncos is one of the most coveted yet pressure-packed positions to hold in the NFL today.

John Elway’s greatness created a gigantic shadow over the organization, but others have come along since number seven to help the team win a ton of football games and in the case of Peyton Manning, a third Super Bowl title.

Over the course of the past two seasons, the quarterback position has been an Achilles heel for the Broncos. In addition to struggling to stay healthy, Broncos quarterbacks since 2016 have been downright terrible, among the worst in the NFL at creating offense and turning the ball over.

It has certainly not been up to typical Denver Broncos standards, and that’s why John Elway acted accordingly this offseason as the team’s general manager.

Elway took a long look at the available players at the position this offseason, including Kirk Cousins and a number of other veteran quarterbacks along with a very talented rookie class which had five first-round selections.

Elway passed on all except one — Case Keenum.

Keenum was brought in to be the Broncos’ starter, and he’s taken command of that role very quickly in his first few months with the team.
