The Denver Broncos May Return To the Postseason Because of the Run

Brad Evans of Yahoo Sports reports that he expects the Denver Broncos to run the ball more this season.

Here’s his statement in his own words.

I do think it’s in the Broncos’ best interests to do so.

Traditionally, I advocate for Devontae Booker to get more opportunities.

If Evans has heard the truth, it appears the Broncos will do the wise thing with Booker.

When given the opportunity, Booker has excelled both as a back and receiver. Thus far, in his career, Booker has 1,451 yards on 314 touches. This equates to about 4.6 yards per touch in his first two seasons.

Despite being the Utes’ offense in 2014 and 2015, he’s fresh as a pro.

The more touches for Booker the better as far as I’m concerned. He has shown he can carry a big load.

Despite being sparingly used, De’Angelo Henderson has shown explosion and burst when called upon. Like Booker, all he needs is more opportunities.

As is the case with Booker, Henderson is really fresh and should bring explosiveness to the backfield.

I look forward to seeing what Royce Freeman can do as a pro as well. He does share many similarities as a collegian to Booker in his own sphere.

At Oregon, Freeman had almost 950 touches and averaged nearly 6 yards a carry.

Furthermore, he ran for 50 scores as a Duck. As a receiver, he averaged 10.3 yards per grab as well. Based on the running game alone, quarterback Case Keenum should be dangerous as a passer.

If the Broncos are to return to the playoffs, the offense must absolutely improve. The running game must carry a significant part of the load in this scenario.

If all goes well, this could be the best Broncos’ running game since 2012.

While this season was bittersweet for Broncos Country, Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno were dynamic.

I’d like to see Booker and Freeman combine for 850 yards and 10 touchdowns.

If Henderson can add another 550 yards or so, this could be as good as the 2012 Broncos’ offense.

Assuredly, in such circumstances, I’d expect to see the Broncos in the playoffs as well.

Anyway, it’s time for Broncos football to return. It’s been such a long time since its departure!

The preseason will be really exciting with such a dynamic draft class having come to Dove Valley.

In any event, the wait is not long now.
