Inside Linebacker

The Bash Brothers x Three

The Broncos put a bit of faith in their duo of linebackers that started most of last season in Brandon Marshall and Todd Davis.

It was expected that Davis would get an offer in free agency pricing himself out of the Broncos’ range and that Marshall could potentially be traded or released.

The Broncos re-signed Davis to a team-friendly three-year contract and Marshall has reignited his career by losing some weight and adding some muscle mass.

Marshall and Davis are both very effective run defenders and are being joined by one of the best linebackers in the Big Ten, Josey Jewell.

Jewell was a fourth-round pick out of Iowa and immediately made an impression, earning some first-team reps during OTAs and picking up right where he left off with the Hawkeyes.

In Marshall, Davis, and Jewell, the Broncos have a linebacker trio that should provide them with incredible production for the foreseeable future, but the depth behind them is unknown at this point.

All three of the top three guys at this position excel at defending against the run, where the Broncos ranked third in the NFL last season. Jewell was very good in coverage at Iowa despite his athletic limitations.

The Broncos must get better at this position defending in the passing game against running backs and tight ends.
