Denver Broncos reunite Bo Bower and Josey Jewell
The Denver Broncos have reportedly signed former Iowa Hawkeyes linebacker Bo Bower, reuniting him with former teammate Josey Jewell…
The Denver Broncos have reportedly agreed to a contract with undrafted rookie linebacker Bo Bower after his tryout with the team at minicamp.
The report comes from another former Hawkeyes football player and teammate of Bower’s, Tyler Kluver, the former Hawkeyes long snapper.
Bower received a tryout right after the 2018 NFL Draft with the Minnesota Vikings but wasn’t offered a contract.

His week with the Denver Broncos was obviously impressive enough to warrant a further look in training camp, which could include a familiar pairing.
Bower wasn’t a four-year starter like fellow Broncos rookie and former Hawkeyes linebacker Josey Jewell, but over the course of the past four seasons, those two combined for 667 total tackles, and when they played side-by-side the past two seasons as starters, they were among the best linebacker duos in the country.
At 6-foot-2, 236 pounds, Bower ran a blazing 4.57-second 40-yard dash at the Iowa Hawkeyes pro day and posted a great number in the vertical jump of 34.5 inches.
The Broncos have a pretty loaded linebacker position right now and a lot of young players competing for positions, but Bower will be in a great situation with his former Iowa teammate.
Bower had 91 tackles in 2016 and 90 tackles in 2017, finishing with 3.5 tackles for loss this past year along with a forced fumble and a sack.
As a reserve earlier in his career, Bower picked off three passes and took one back for a touchdown in his sophomore season.
He’s shown an ability to make big plays throughout his time at Iowa and developed incredibly well over his four years on campus.
He initially joined the program as a walk-on and ended up as part of the team’s leadership group.
His ability in coverage and combination of size and speed are very intriguing. Hopefully, over the course of the next couple of months, Bower can continue to impress and make his presence felt in the Broncos’ linebacker group.

It would definitely be awesome to see him running side-by-side with Josey Jewell at the professional level after the two were essentially unknowns coming out of high school before making their mark at Iowa.
