Wide receiver became one of the deepest positions on the roster for the Denver Broncos in the draft and we might need to add Tim Patrick to that list…

Undrafted free agents at wide receiver seem to make the most out of their opportunities in Denver. Tim Patrick came to the NFL last season but bounced around to three teams.

The Broncos were Patrick’s last of the three teams, and he’s making some waves at OTAs.

His arm length makes him an interesting target on offense. Due to Carlos Henderson’s absence because of a hamstring injury, Patrick is running with the first team.

This is staggering considering the team’s loyalty to Jordan Taylor in previous seasons.

Taylor continues to recover from hip surgery. In fact, there’s a chance Taylor begins the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP). Our very own Sayre Bedinger overheard during the Vance Joseph press conference today Taylor will be on PUP to start Training Camp.

This makes playing Patrick with the first team clearer.

However, there’s talent with this wide receiver to prove he is no slouch. Patrick is the same height and weight as Taylor. Both are 6’5″ and 210 pounds; however, there is more playmaking talent with Patrick.

Next: Why the Broncos won't cut Carlos Henderson

Taylor is a gifted, reliable player, but there’s more burst with Patrick. Both Patrick and Taylor are capable of reaching passes at the highest point. The length of Patrick gives him a great catch radius to make plays with a defensive back in tight coverage.

As fans are filing in to watch Training Camp, Patrick is a player to keep an eye on. If Patrick is making noise past few days, then it might continue into training camp. Taylor’s and Henderson’s injuries swing open a door for the Denver Broncos to look at Patrick.
