Faster is always better for a quarterback releasing the ball before the pass rush gets to him, and Case Keenum sees it that way…

Denver Broncos fans saw Peyton Manning overshadow the team’s offensive line woes with his quick release. Manning is one of the best to ever do it. Seeing the type of success he had is the model for new quarterback Case Keenum.

Keenum said on Tuesday he prides himself on the early throw.

"”I always thought that it was my job to get the ball out of my hands, get it into the fast guys’ hands and let them do something with it,”Case Keenum (quotes via Broncos PR)"

For previous Denver Broncos quarterbacks, a smart or quick decision was not their specialty.

Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch struggled processing reads resulting or holding the ball too long. It is well documented the quick release of Keenum. He understands keeping the ball is recipe for disaster.

"”If I’m stuck with a ball, usually it’s not a good result. I try to get it out of my hands and to those guys who can do something with it, and we have a lot of those guys. However we do it, however Bill is going to draw up different plays to do that, I think that’s always been my job,”Keenum elaborated about his release."

Keenum’s release is not the only treasure for the Denver Broncos. The quick release complimented by time to throw from an improved offensive line will be a success all the way around. His release time of 2.78 seconds ranked him near the top of most protected quarterbacks.

Being able to release the ball quickly is critical for NFL quarterbacks, and especially so in the AFC West where there are so many talented pass rushers. Keenum understands the need to get rid of the ball quickly, and the Broncos have players that excel in making plays after the catch.

Like his fast release, Keenum’s is on a NASCAR pace to stardom if he continues this upward trajectory.

My optimism grows with every story about the positives on the Denver Broncos’ new starting quarterback. As a matter of fact, Keenum’s quick release has gotten me convinced he can make a good home for himself in Denver.
