John Elway took some time after his round of golf to talk about Denver Broncos OTAs, and he hinted at wanting DeMarcus Ware around for a while…

The Denver Broncos are doing a very good thing by bringing in DeMarcus Ware to work with their defensive linemen and pass rushers, but what’s the timeline for his stay in Denver?

According to John Elway, Ware is going to be coming in for a ‘couple days’ in each of the next couple of weeks, but he very much left it open-ended after that.

There does not seem to be any definitive timetable on Ware’s agreement to coach the team beyond OTAs, but Elway certainly made it sound like he wants him to be around more than just that.

Here’s his interview with 9News Broncos insider Mike Klis:

Elway’s exact quote was, “It was good to see DeMarcus. He’ll be coming in a couple days a week for a couple weeks and then we’ll see how it works out with his schedule…”

That sounds to me like Elway feels there’s at least a possibility Ware will return at some point in some capacity.

The Broncos have hinted this offseason at wanting a pass rush coaching specialist, and there may be no one more qualified than Ware.

The grind of being an NFL coach is more intensive than being a player, at least that’s what many have said, and the ability to come and go may be much more appealing to Ware.

Even having him around on a part-time basis to coach up the edge rushers or having him come in for a couple of weeks during training camp would be greatly beneficial to the Broncos.

Likening Ware to someone like Peyton Manning is a hard thing to do, but for defensive players in this league, he’s someone that is extremely highly regarded and respected.

Ware played at such a high level for so many years that he commands the attention of the room or the field whenever he’s on it.

Von Miller learned so much from Ware, as did Shane Ray, Shaquil Barrett, and many of the other members of this Broncos roster. They are hoping he can do some of the same with guys like Bradley Chubb.

Hopefully, OTAs will not be the last time we see Ware in Denver.

If you check out Ware’s Instagram story, you’ll see they got him his own locker.

Maybe that’s an indication that he will be around more than just a couple of days in the next couple of weeks.
